The role of forests, fruit and medicinal plants in combating climate change: A review

Abstract

In the context of ongoing global climate change, there is no alternative to developing and conserving forests, fruit trees, and medicinal plants to protect human life and interests. Islam has placed the utmost importance on the development, conservation, and disaster prevention of forests, fruit trees, and medicinal plants. The article in question attempts to present two important issues. The first, analyzes the role of forests, fruit trees, and medicinal plants in combating the effects of climate change on the human body and the environment. The second presents a review of the great teachings of Islam and the prevailing laws and policies on the development and conservation of forests, fruit trees, and medicinal plants. The primary objective of this research article is to discuss with the reading community the visible similarities between Islam and law and the great principles of Islam in the development and conservation of forests, fruit trees, and medicinal plants. Secondly, its purpose is to attract the attention of thinkers, researchers and decision-making authorities so that the principles of Islam in this regard are clearly reflected and they can take initiatives to enact effective laws by incorporating those principles into existing laws. This article is presented in a descriptive manner. The article shows that there is ample opportunity to understand the limitations of addressing climate change and pursue transition strategies. Therefore, if we can play an effective role in identifying the problems and solving them, it will be possible to build a better, sustainable and prosperous Bangladesh.
